Topic: Best Practices for Avoiding Wage and Hour Liability
As employers continue to see numerous amendments to the New York Labor Law, the frequency of audits by the New York State Department of Labor, as well as individual and class action lawsuits are on the rise. Often, employers are not even aware of a specific requirement or the DOL's enforcement position on the issue. This session will focus on wage and hour compliance pitfalls that open employers to liability and what steps employers should be taking to avoid them. Topics will include pay frequency requirements, permissible payroll deductions, pay transparency, protections for lawful absences, and more.
Speaker 2 - Frank Kerbein (The Business Council of NYS) ![]()

We’ll discuss the various human resources and labor legislation making its way through the New York State Legislature as we head to the end of the legislative session in June. We’ll discuss the political landscape in Albany, proposed legislation that is likely to pass, and how these new laws will impact your organization for the remainder of 2023 and beyond.
