How many companies are requiring their employees to wear masks? As employers, are we required to enforce the following of NY and CDC guidelines? Our CEO wants to eliminate the requirement but I want to make sure we will not get in trouble for doing so. Any input is appreciated!

Important topic. Thanks. We decided not to create an environment of vaccinated versus unvaccinated in the workplace. Our concern was the potential conflict and ill will that could emerge. At the same time we remain concerned with risk exposure to comp claims as well as the uncertainty around the new HERO act. Therefore we are maintaining mask requirement if within 6 feet until further OSHA guidance (other than refer to CDC).

This is a hot topic at our company as well- I had the same conversation yesterday with our owner. Our current policy is the original policy from before the new CDC/NY State guidelines-(must wear a mask), but now we would fall under the- "operate below the state’s social gathering limit of 250 indoors or 500 outdoors" so we can follow the CDC guidelines of no masks for those who are vaccinated. A majority of our employees are vaccinated. But there are about 20% that are choosing not to. I am sure there will be some guidance released soon. It always seems the employment law/subject matter experts release it all a few weeks after the news breaks... thank you for posting!

As of last week with the CDC and NYS updates, we have begun to allow our vaccinated employees in the bldg. without wearing masks (if they choose) and those that are not vaccinated to still wear masks and social distance. Yes, we are also collecting copy of vaccination cards currently (per M Sciotti's presentation).
