Cell Phone Policy

Hello, I'm looking for general thoughts on providing cell phone reimbursement to employees in a day and age where most people have a personal cell phone plan they pay for and would continuing paying for regardless if they check company email or have to use it for minimal for company use. This is similar to using personal internet at home, where the cost of internet is the same regardless if you are using it for work. What is your high level policy / reimbursement amounts provided? We take a several tier approach. Our executive team receives $110.00 per month, then $50.00, then $25.00. We pay it through payroll. We use to provide a phone allowance for upgrades but suspended that as it did get costly.

I feel providing $40 a month for a cell phone if a phone is required to conduct company business. I personally have a Grasshopper phone line which I can access with my company laptop or personal cell phone. I have a vanity number since I am a Senior Recruiter supporting sites in several states. 855-315-JOBS

Hi Theresa, We reimburse our senior management employees because they are expected to respond to emergencies at any time and it's also a perk of being in that high of a position. There are also some heightened security levels placed on someone's phone once they have email access downloaded and the company has the ability to shut the phone down if any sensitive information is shared on the cell phone.

Depending on the nature of their work (on call etc). Two tiers. 40.00 and 90.00 monthly. They are expected to utilize phone for company business to include secure email.
